    wish i did

they may have turned white kids onto rap but they ruined that song by treating it silly (not to mention really bad rapping)

I'm not saying all metal is good but even the really bad stuff is "written" and played. My long standing problems with most hip-hop are as follows...

no melodies--unless the hook is borrowed, sampled or stolen
no singing (and I am a singer dammit!)
so much seems unoriginal and is about taking beats from this and putting it with that

having a special cadence-if not melody-accompanied by brilliant irreverent lyrics, well synced to the beats does get me interested and even more so if it's biting or faster.

In the metal scene today, the kids like a lot of fake tough guy or screemo or cookie monster vocals and because it lacks melody in the vocals (and is embarrassing), I won't bother much....BUT sometimes these guys know what they are doing and play their throats like a weird percussion instrument (evil talking screaming xylophones). I posted a band early in this thread called Cradle of Filth and while it isn't singing and I wont listen to much of it, I find it interesting what he's doing. So yeah, if there is any other rap out there that sounds as busy as Public Enemy with all the other stuff I mentioned, I'd like to listen to it

If the lead had a melody...it would be singing....and that would defeat the purpose of calling it rapping...now wouldn't it?

I will listen again, but based on what I heard.....not sure you're a singer homie!

You say it like "taking beats from this and putting it with that" is easy!

Rap isn't my chosen field, but I respect the artistry and talent required to do it well. It's not for everybody, but that's narrow criteria. You basically said...it's gotta sound like a handful of specific rap songs...or else....when there is so much out there to chose from.

Plus you want it to all be fast....why? A nice groove can get a lot of things done!

See.....that's why you in website beefs all the time now....you gotta slow it all down homie!......LOL!

Nope......my mission is to put a play list together for you that sounds like "You" and let you hear "yourself" in the lyrics.

But give me a little while, cause you're complicated.......LOL!!!

Oz...have you considered Rage Against the Machine? I know some call Zack De la Rocca (I think that's his name) a phony, but I can't think of better music to lift to! Evil Empire was a staple in my consistant lifting days

for some stupid reason the tool bar that has the icons where you link in media doesn't load up all the time for me. My you tube links didn't work. Sorry oz...I'll try again later. My links were to a couple Mos Def tracks and a NAS track. They have a rock feel to them.

Also my load time on this site only is VVVVVVerry slow....half the time. It's strange. Just started happening a couple weeks ago.
