Damn, man, why don't you get it?? I've never hated on Neal; I've only pointed out his limitations, which you've never acknowledged. Our difference of opinion is really on Hester's play. You think he plainly sucks, while I think he's an unspectacular contributor who has plenty of value on ST as well as on a potent offense. You can portray Neal as the ultimate FB if you like, but there IS more to the position than just blocking. Larry Centers was a great example of that.
Why don't I get it???........LOL! Do you not recall what you wrote? You said:
Lo was one-dimensional. He made the offense more predictable than even Sax claims it is... Hester's better in every respect except straight-ahead road grading, IMO. I'd rather have a guy who can punch it inside in short-yardage situations (Lo didn't carry the ball much for a reason), or line up wide and run routes AND actually catch the ball. I loved Neal when he was here, but he has hands of stone, and anyone who's seen him play should know this. Neal was very limited in what he could contribute.
I'm not trying to portray Neal as anything....his numbers, reputation, and game play portray him as one of the greatest blocking FBs the game has ever seen. His stats even suggest he was versatile in doing so......at least as much as the guy you claimed was "better in every respect". You are arguing against a point I never made....while trying to distance yourself from your original statement. Straw-man and evasion aren't really that effective with me.
BTW, it wasn't your use of hyperbole that I disagreed with; it was the suggestion that there's no comparison between the players.
But my use of hyperbole was employed in making my larger point that there is no "reasonable" comparison. I was obviously talking about the wide disparity in the quality of play of the 2 men. I thought that was understood, but I suppose one could actually think I don't know they are both men who played FB for the Chargers in the 21 century. My bad........LOL!!!!! I'm done with this. Hester is great...Neal was over-rated...and you're right.......I hope that about covers it for you.
