If it was just about winning then you'd right, but I pointed to plays that were more about receivers and opposing defenders than Sheli.

If you think I'm supposed to be convinced by what his teammates say about him instead of my own eyes...you're kidding yourself...or maybe just trying to make a point that can't really be made.

As I said he did enough, but I didn't see excellence...I saw adaquecy...and due to excellence from his defense and receivers...that was enough.

Several things that went right for Sheli were just the breaks of the game and just a part of football, but making them into excellence for Sheli is just revisionist in my opinion.

How many times does Tyree hold that ball?....how many times does Samuel miss that pick?...how many times does Toomer get away with the push-off and come down with that sideline pass?....how many times does the short sorry corner guess wrong and.....well maybe that happens plenty, but you get my point.

As I said...you can never take the win from Sheli, but why make the win about him more than about who it really should be about...his defense and receivers for marvelous plays and then the Pats corners for coming up small.

As I said.....which point is "wrong"?

Nino, like I said, I understand your hate for Eli but your way under selling his value in the out come of the game Sunday. If you want to point to all those plays where his receivers made great plays, what about those 4 dropped passes by Giants WRs? What about Steve Smith running a wrong route causing an incompletion, or Plaxico running a wrong route on the play Eli scambled to the left and threw to the spot Plaxico should have been in? In the end, all those plays even out.

Bottom line.......first 3 quarters of the game was a defensive battle on both sides. But in the 4th quarter, when his team needed him most, Eli elevated his game as he went 9-14 for 162 yards and 2 TDs.

Plus after the Patriots scored a TD to take the momentium of the game back. With 2:42 left in the game, Eli drove that Giants 83 yards for a Superbowl game winning TD. I'm sorry but that's Joe Montana-esque.

Plus your taking about that great Tyree catch, well the catch would never have happened if Eli didn't use his athletic ability to break away from those 3-4 Patriots defenders who almost had him for a sack.

Like I said, hate him all you want but he was a difference maker in the Giants winning that Superbowl and deserved that MVP award (although I would have also made Justin Tuck co-MVP) wheither you want to admit it or not. ;)

If that's the case, we should give his dad the remote for all 16 games next year. :D

As said before Manning played well and made a great 4th quarter drive.
What is wrong with his MVP to me is not the play of the Giants receivers or their push to the corners or poor play by the Pats cornerbacks, but the fact that the defense of the Giants finally stopped the Pats offense when needed the most!!! I mean we played good defense vs the pats and held them to 21 points, but in the 4th quarter they've been able to close a cup of 3rd downs and take the game.
Finally the giants D stopped their offense (wich has been unstoppable for almost every game) and at this point I give credit to Manning for his great drive.
But please, to all who voted the MVP, I think a veteran as Strahan and as a rapresentative for all the D should have gone away with that.
I imagine Daddy Manning pointing a gun on the heads of voters or sending extra christmas gift to them:biglaugh:
I'm from Italy, my english is not the best, but hope everybody understands what I mean.:) GO CHARGERS!!!!!!!!!
