Looks like he might have a bit of a chance this time. Any thoughts on him Oz? Polls show neck and neck with Romney. I like his economic stance. I also like the clip where he was fooled in that Bruno movie.
I have a lot of thoughts on him and I don't think anyone here--Paul supporters or not--is going to like them! I can't wait to tell you but I am gearing up for the fights tonight...i'll respond later when I'm good and drunk
I like the dude but..All he is going to do is fuck up the votes needed to elect someone that can defeat the anointed Muslim. (fire away!)
sorry, nose...shit faced (great fights tonight!) I'll be back tomorrow to make you people wonder why people aren't wearing enough hats
Alright, Ron Paul is different things to different people and a lot of my problems with him are exactly what other people think is great about him. There is a lot of his supposed platform that most people can get behind but I argue that much of that is untenable within his own theory-- without mentioning how drowned out that will become once he took office. At his core, he is a "Libertarian" (words are tricky but words like this one and "anarchist" have gone through some word-war changes over the years). Unlike most Libertarians, I think Paul actually believes in a morality created from unregulated self interest..He seems like a genuinely nice and honest person but is for ending taxes, gutting all social services, deregulating/removing regulatory bodies from government and is for privatization of most public entities. He expects charity to pop up in absence of community. Roads, bridges, schools, hospitals all privatized and GREAT! he isn't for subsidizing private companies (what with?). Over the last 30 plus years, the US has been ever increasingly deregulated, privatized and left open to plunder for the powerful. His supposed stances that corporations hate are more than made up for by them getting their dream of ending all pretenses to abiding by rules. unregulated capitalism destroying your world? MORE is Paul's answer! Liberals or otherwise fake leftists who have jumped on the Paul wagon are getting willfully used after buying hope for the last four years. "Paul will end all wars and foreign occupations"! I doubt that. "Paul is scaring the establishment and speaking the truth! They are trying to shut him up"! Most of the info on Paul being silenced is coming from that media supposedly silencing him. If that guy gets in, the feeling will be that a real revolution has taken place and meanwhile, all of his platform that the banks and corporations love will go into effect immediately. And watch while the pesky little bit about foreign occupations will be drowned out by the media putting microphones in front of Tea Party Paulians happy that finally, there will be zero education and health care for everyone, unions all busted and the poor rich people won't be required to pay for roads, fire departments and regulatory bodies On that very last point, do you know what Paul's solution is? If a company dumps mercury into your water supply or poisons your kid with bad milk, it is an issue between you and them in court! No shit, he believes this will work! you against a large monopoly in a bribe taking courthouse (to be fair, he does support funding courts). Where Reagan said, "fuck them", Paul actually religiously believes that the little guy left to barter his labor on his own, will be fine in a "free market" world with rich people more open to charity (now that government is off their backs) As I said earlier, I don't think he's trying to be evil but if he gets in, the truth he speaks about Iran bashing being bullshit, will be small problems the real powers will work with, while destroying this world even quicker. I'm all for a Republican getting in so that half hearted liberals don't get Obamatised on Clinton Placebo, but this guy with the mass support of the people will be much worse.
If you guys fell alseep reading that, I heard a good Paul joke recently Ron Paul wants to bring all troops home....where they will be needed for the coming race wars
