    yes, chick o sticks rule

I'm convinced boston beans are rat turds

jolly ranchers in the long flat forms were called sticks (or stix?), e.g., cherry sticks, fire sticks (my favorite), apple sticks. They probably stopped making them because kids were using them to shiv other inmates at school

we never spent our hard stolen money on lifesavers but they sure were awesome in those books we'd get on Cristmas!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned gummi bears! The best were from Trader Joes and served chilled

    LightsoutSD BRING YOUR LUNCH PAIL!!

    WOW, THAT'S A MOUTHFUL!! LOL

I was trying to remember the names to Alexander the Grape and Cherryclans(super racist) candies. They were my favorites! But they were a quarter when I was growing up in SD.

And what happened to penny candies anyway?? Damn inflation.....I agree a dollar back in the day could get a kid wasted!!

I love Charlston Chews as well, and when I was little we loved Sugar Daddys and Sugar Babies! Really tough on your teeth though.

I asked my wife about the Chick o sticks, which I also used to get from the ice cream man, and she said she loves them and forgot about them! LOL

OMG what else?? Butter mints ARE the shit! Jolly Ranchers, Boston Baked beans.....I guess everything you guys mentioned I like!!

Yeah I think it's safe to say we're all a bunch of sugar junkies!!

yes! painters pants were the shit when I was 10. had pockets for your comb and stix!

We all used to dream about the day we would be rich so we could buy chocolate bars...We could buy them then but the yield was so low compared to what you could get with your 50 cents! One chunky OR... a box of lemonheads, box of red hots, a fire stix, gobstopper, and a green apple gum

That is some deliciousness for your behind!!! I need to find a chick o' stick soon!

Yo, boston baked beans were weird weren't they?!!! It was kinda candy with a sweet peanuts type thing happenin'!....but there was always one kid that swore by them though......like the store would have never sold them without that kid!!!

I never thought about that, you probably could shank the mess out of somebody with one of those sticks.
Add in that they'd probably cost a dollar a stick now....it probably wouldn't work today! I do miss the old flavors though. They need to bring peach back!!!

You're right....we never really got into lifesavers like that. They were kind of old people candy too. We did dig the tropical ones for a minute when we were kids, but there were too many other fun candies to get into....plus they took up your whole $.50 cent!!!

My pops always got us those lifesaver books at Christmas time. Remember the black cherry kind?!!!

It would be that and one of his favorites...that red, green, or clear rock candy in plastic bags in our stockings. It always ended up in the candy dishes stuck together until easter!...LOL!

The chewy gummi phase started with gummi worms for us. Gummi bears cost too much in packs.....gummi worms were sold loose for a nickle and they were long at first....like darn near a foot! We stayed with those and loose penny candy like swedish fish, chewy cherries, (the round bright red glaze coated ones) and those little red raspberries for our chewy fix....at least until we got older and could afford the gummi bears.

We also had something that was popular with older black folks called candy nickles. They were bright red with what looked like a george washington head on them. They had a harder chewy texture kinda like ju ju's. Anybody remember those?

Kids didn't dig them where we were, but when you asked permission to go to the store, any older folks always wanted a quarter's worth of those nickles and a few squirrel nuts and mary-janes. Then they would complain at how thin squirrel nuts and mary-janes had gotten!......LOL!

No mention of Fun Dip? I used to eat the stick before I got through all the sugar. I would have just got the stick if it was an option.

King size pixie sticks? Cocaine for children....lol

I got a lot of Tootsie Rolls as a kid cuz they were cheap. Still lovem though.
