I had a thread for my team on the old GTP, and you guys gave such good feedback, I had to have another up here. I won my league last year, so I picked last (12th) every single round (no serpent style). I kept Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin, and Brandon Marshall. I drafted my team in the following order: Earnest Graham, RB, TB [*]Ricky Williams, RB, MIA [*]Kevin Smith, RB, DET [*]Jay Cutler, QB, DEN [*]Donte Stallworth, WR, CLE [*]James Jones, WR, GB [*]Andre Hall, RB, DEN [*]Kurt Warner, QB, ARI [*]Kevin Walter, WR, HOU [*]Eddie Royal, WR, DEN [*]L.J. Smith, TE, PHI [*]PHI DEF [*]Matt Prater, K, DEN I guess you can give some feedback if you feel like it, I'm just starting this back up again.
Alright, I'm thinking I might want to make a trade to shore up my RBs or WRs. I'd be willing to part with Cutler or Warner, because I think value can be easily found at the QB spot. Here are my QBs, WRs, and HBs. Tell me what I need to improve, and who you would get rid of to do so. This is a 12-team league, 16-man rosters. QB Jay Cutler Kurt Warner RB Frank Gore Earnest Graham Ricky Williams Kevin Smith Andre Hall WR Anquan Boldin Brandon Marshall Donte Stallworth James Jones Eddie Royal Kevin Walter Thanks!
I just offered Kurt Warner for Roy Williams, WR as a feeler trade to a guy who only has 1 QB (Derek Anderson). With Anderson's concussion problems, I figured he could use a decent backup. Do you guys think this is a decent approach?
I recently added Slaton from Houston....some of the FF experts say he "could" be a gem...Just as they said about V Jackson...and I have both...what do you think? I have QB-Rivers RB-Addai RB-W. Parker WR-H. Ward WR-V. Jackson TE-Witten W/T-Galloway W/R-Fargas BN-Sproles BN-J.Garcia BN-K.Walter BN-S. McDonald BN-Slaton DEF-Dallas K-Nugent What do you think???
I dont think he would bite on that one. If he does, nice work though. I think you may have to package a couple of player to try to get something done and even then it probably wouldnt work for a top tier WR. Maybe something like Stallworth and Warner for a legit WR2. A guy on your roster that I like this season as a sleeper is Kevin Walter WR HOU. I think he could have a very productive year and end up as a #2/#3 WR type.
I think you may end up disappointed in Willie Parker since they seem to like Mendenhall so much. Slaton is a good guy to keep at the end of your roster because he could be a real sleeper. He is already in the mix for the starting job with Chris Brown's injuries. I also like Chris Taylor there in Houston at RB too though and think either him or Slaton are going to end up being the guys to own on that team. If it was my team I would consider dealing Witten and Parker for a top RB and a lesser TE. There are so many good TE's in the league right now that even guys down the food chain like Crumpler, Olsen, Watson and both Millers should put up decent points. In every draft Ive done this season (and some of them start two TE's) Ive waited on the position in order to get better QBs, RBs and WRs and Ive come out okay. Ended up with guys like Scheffler, Crumpler, Watson and Utecht in my double TE leagues.
the Hines Ward as receiver is one that I dont like....he's getting old and Im not sure what to think about him this year....I think Im going to keep Slaton and Walter on the bench the 1st or 2nd week to see what they produce...I know Mendenhal can tear it up...He destroyed OSU last year..Ill keep Parker for a bit and see who wants to trade after a week or 2...right now theres really nothing to get because its all picked thru...In our league somebody put Rudi Johnson on waivers..I have a shot at that...I dont think Watson can carry the load for Cinci
I think they want Perry to be the man in Cincy. I would take a shot with Rudi though because if he gets healthy he could be the starter again quickly. Ward is a guy that everyone is expecting a big drop off from because of his age and Santonio Holmes. I wouldnt expect him to fall to far though because he is still a good player that will be on the field most of the time. Id consider him a WR3.
That's tough. Slaton probably has more upside than Rudi, but he also has to get the job first. If it were me I would probably drop Sproles for Rudi instead. Unless you own LT I think Sproles is too tough to carry all season on a smaller roster. We know that if LT gets hurt Sproles could produce, but let's face it, we're Chargers fans and if LT gets hurt the last thing we're going to care about is fantasy football.
