....I know that Padres have been terrible lately but at least there is one bright spot on the horizon. On the 21st of August they'll be retiring his number. I've got to imagine that will be a really fun day at the ballpark....I just hope they can pull off a win to help celebrate his honor.

It's against the Marlins....makes sense since it was his original team. ....But yeah that would have been awesome to have it against the hated dodgers.

SonofaBolt Go AJ! And take Norv with you.

I remember all of the commotion of events that brought Trevor to SD. San Diego traded fast rising OF Gary Sheffield and Rich Rodriguez for Trevor, Jose Martinez, and some other guy. I remember it all happened in the early 90's just as Bobby Ross was making the Chargers respectable again. Like a lot of fans, I was pissed that San Diego traded away Sheffield for a relief pitcher just as he was starting to become a dominant bat, and it sure didn't heal any wounds when Sheff went to the MLB All-Star game for the Marlins.

But now, 20 years in hindsight, the trade was a good one and each team got value from it, and maybe a little more for SD. Last time I checked, Sheff bounced around to a couple of more teams before he was done, none of which is retiring his number any time soon.
