Cops when they take an oath. They are there to defend the law and constitution. So sad to see them abuse the law. And ruin the trust of us, the people, that they are sworn the protect.
Coroners report this morning, should be televised according to an actual news story earlier this morning, I think right about now-11:00 am PST. Police stated that they are not sure if they will be having a press conference after or more likely just release a statement. Hmm, what are the odds on finding something like PCP in his system, justifying him being beaten to death....just sayin' ...
2nd degree murder charge for officer manuel ramos and one count of involuntary manslaughter. One other officer one count of involuntary manslaughter
thanks for posting that, Lightning...I usually don't find out about stuff like this for awhile I like this guy's response, The DA said one very important thing in his press conference that I've been saying for years, and people have always looked at me like I'm crazy. "You have a right to defend yourself from a police officer". I plan to quote that man to police quite a bit now. Also I'm not the least bit impressed with one token police officer facing 15 to life and other facing 4 years. If me and my brothers beat a cop to death they'd execute us on the scene, which is what a town worth living in would have done to those cops when they say what was going down. Every single cop who was on the scene and not trying to stop the beating needs to be fired and charged. Just by being an extra cop there, they were making sure that the public could not intervene to save the life of a fellow citizen being abused by the authorities. And let's get to the very heart of the issue: will what happens to these cops deter future abuses? NO. It's so incredibly unlikely, it's only hitting the most ridiuclously out of control one of them, and keep in mind he still might walk. More is needed.
Cop put on latex gloves and put them in his face and told Thomas he was going to fuck him up Lots of info here. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/kelly-thomas/
The investigation did not find grounds to charge the other four officers involved in the altercation July 5.
It seems under the law it would be to hard to prove .DA said on the radio today the way Romos set it up that when other officers arrived it looked like Thomas was resisting and they acted in a non criminal matter except for the freak with the glass eye.
What I heard & read today going by the timeline of when the other cops arrived seems #2 & #4 aren't being charged because they will testify as to how things went down
