    swoop I post stuff.

The Chargers have been among the NFL’s most active teams when it comes to rookie free-agent signings. Michel Gehlken of the Union-Tribune San Diego has a list of 21 additions. They are: Applachian State cornerback DeAndre Presley, Arizona State receiver Mike Willie, Arkansas cornerback Greg Gatson, Cal safety Sean Cattouse, Fresno State defensive end Logan Harrell,…[IMG]

AJ seems crazy aggressive this year........really serious about finding us some talent....or keeping his job!

Thing is.....if he had kept players that we didn't have to lose and let go of pet projects that most could see weren't top flight ball players over the last few seasons...he wouldn't need to be doing this right now!

Would it have been too much to ask to conduct business this way the entire time he's been here. I really don't think so. It supports the whole concept of him spending money like it was his during his tenure here, and putting a bargain (not a good bargain mind you) team on the field rather than a quality, "get what you pay for" product.

    Saxman New year, new hope...

EXACTLY! He is only serious about saving his own ass. He STILL thinks he is right, but didn't dare draft like normal because he is on seriously thin ice. His decisions and dealings with players, since 2006, expose him for being the moron he truly is. He is not solely to blame for all that is wrong with this team but he has MORE than his share of it, to be sure!

I'm not sure about that part jmoods.

I posted a really detailed long post about this a couple years back...comparing our spending with other top teams at the time....and we spent as much or more than those teams......we just weren't getting the same type of return on our investments.

AJ has spent money....big money....on the guys he wanted. He gave nice healthy contracts and extensions to the guys he liked and rooted for....the moment they showed any promise at all.

But he wouldn't spend on the guys many thought were making the team a contender that weren't his type of player or that somehow he thought were expendable.

So this is really about his talent evaluating and risk management.....along with his football philosophy as it pertains to team building.

We are exactly what AJ built us to be!

If this is truly the case, I wish he'd have just been a cheap-ass, at least there would be a valid excuse. Spending money on all the wrong people makes him a WORSE GM than if he was simply tight with the organization's money.

That's exactly what I was trying to find out at the time.

There was this dude who use to post on the site that had a conspiracy theory that included AJ being cheap and weakening the team on purpose to set up the move to LA. Subsequently...anybody questioning this theory was a dupe or worse...an accomplice.

So I wanted to see just what we were spending and found a site that listed player's salaries and team cap numbers and such and broke us down by position vs. the top 4 teams left in the playoffs at the time or the conference championship teams from that season to see if there was any validity.

Turns out we weren't cheap at all....just spending poorly.

Don't know if it was better to find that out as you mentioned, cause that meant we were possibly just a poorly run franchise.

Hate to be the one to tell you, but it ain't that we don't spend...it's what we buy!

    LightsoutSD BRING YOUR LUNCH PAIL!!

Extensions for guys like Luis Castillo, Jyles Tucker, and Clary........letting go of Turner, Sproles, and VJ. Just an example of his bad calls. I agree with L that AJ spends money, just on the wrong guys.
