Bill Polian did it for 14 years and got away with it. Of course he had one hell of a starter at one position that covered his largesse. Bottom line is that as long as AJ takes care of the Chargers bottom line and makes the team profitable, the Spanoses are happy with 8-8, playoffs be damned. In retrospect, maybe that's why AJ is satisfied with the team "making the tournament" as opposed to winning a championship. Can you imagine what the team will have to pay it's' free agents if they ever win a Super Bowl?
I see what you're saying but the Chargers over payed when hey didn't have to OFTEN! Could have had McNeil, VJ, Sproles , Castillo and Weddle for way less than what ended up happening. You give the guy too much credit
