Second the nomination. As topical as Carlin was, but more upbeat. Izzard is hilarious, and gets morehilarious every time I see him. Hands down: Eddie Izzard.
Good thread. IMO, without Pryor, you don't have Murphy, Rock, etc. I'm not saying they aren't good, but what they're doing was set up by Richard. Listen to 'Is it something I said?' or 'That nigger's crazy' or both and it is still funny as hell. I think Bruce and carlin were hugely influential in their own right, but to be honest, they never made me laugh nearly as much. They did make me think, but I likes my comedy funny.
