they also had a higher literacy rate than "us". That started going downhill after James Earl Jones launched a war against retreating Iraqi soldiers.
i also heard those haajji dress wearers used to have schools even before americans did. go figure. from all i ever hear on our news stations, you would have thought it was a country of goat fucking democracy lovers. (except the terrorists) "thank you Mr. Bush.....we love you Mr. Bush" - Iraqi man shortly after invasion...err liberation (not pictured, recently looted goods)
Because we can't stuff teachers & bloated administrators into our gas tanks to get to where we need to go.
So...it's the teachers and administrators that have created the problem of stupid children and wasted budget dollars?
L, the reason I made such a big deal about where the video was made is simply that this is exactly a right wing tactic of misinformation, yes it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things where the video was made ...but done over and over it creates a perception that it doesn't make any difference what is true. Laying the groundwork that whatever said MUST be true and never questioned. As far as BoltTalk goes, yeah I post the same there as I do here...brings us back to the conceived notion that somehow I am an A-hole for questioning peoples opinions. I can't help the some people react in a bullying mindset of, if questioned, that they feel like they are being attacked so they respond with aggression and insults....the only problem I see is that I will stand my ground and continue to ask for the honest want of an explanation. Unfortunately I will push back though....something that bullies and willfully ignorant people usually have a hard time with and proceed to attack with more vigor instead of trying to have a legitimate discussion. As far as any personal beef, I don't have one, obviously red does and more so than I thought if I am the topic of conversation with his friend over at bolttalk. So back to the thread, No child left behind has been a failure and done nothing but try and educate children on how to take tests, not how to learn and have the knowledge that would make them a better citizen. Instead of more privatization of schools that just creates more of a have and have not system than once again will have people pointing their fingers at each other. It's the system that should be fixed. Fix the system to do it's purpose and run more efficiently and there wouldn't be the waste of budget. Also lets look at the housing debacle and how the banks go out of their way not to keep people in the homes when it would actually be of better service not only to the people losing their homes but to the school districts that rely on property taxes for funding. If the banks "own" the home when it is foreclosed on then THEY should still be paying the property taxes on them...if they were made to do so I bet there would be a lot more willing restructure and modification of loans, that would actually benefit the school system.
I can dig all of this Lightning, but it's hard to shake labels on these sites. I guess just keep it civil and ask your questions and do what you think you gotta do....cause I suspect that's what everybody else is gonna do! As for your education fix.....I think the system would have to start with properly identifying the purpose of modern schools. Plenty of folks have gone on to do big things without the benefit of a traditional education or less of it than most....so it's not about success or even learning for that matter. Lots of home schooled children test extremely high on standardized tests and they do just fine in life.....weird as all get out some of them, but they do just fine. So what is the purpose.....to properly indoctrinate and condition children for use in the very system you suggest they fix. To those with the largest benefit from the system....I submit.....the system isn't broken! It's accomplishing exactly what they desire....so I'm not a get in and fix the system advocate. If we want something to change, we gotta treat this thing like the mountain it really is, as opposed to acting like it's a little hill to go over. How do you get through a mountain?.....you blow it up!!! As for your housing fix.....that would end foreclosures overnight!!! I like it!
