I like the pick. I thought he'd be gone.

The short arms part is what will probably make him good, but maybe not great at the next level. Frankly...I'll settle for good. All I want to avoid is another bust at that position. If he can't play...I think we're screwed.

It says alot about where the organization thinks English is though......if they really had any confidence in him.....I think they would have gone DeCastro....he was best on the board across positions.

There is a lot of talent on the board still....so maybe with as few linemen on both sides of the ball taken.....we can get some beef in the second and third.

harbarjaphar Ingram + Barnes = pass rush

Guards are cheap... Pass rushers aren't.

I agree mostly. That there wasn't much action on lineman makes me wish even more so they traded the pick to get more of them

It had that feeling with all the quarterbacks and corners going right?

I thought he would trade back for sure! Either DeCastro, Ingram, or Mercilus would have been there along with Perry, Harrison Smith, and Hightower still being on the board a few picks later. We could have gotten picks and still gotten a highly rated player.

I hope AJ got this one right!

I just think we made an odd move not trading back even more so considering the few really nice free agent pick-ups we made....one being Jarrett Johnson.

If Shaun plays all three downs like he normally does and Johnson...being a great run stopping OLB plays 2 downs and gives way to Barnes on 3rd down...being probably our best pure pass rusher anymore......what do we do with Ingram.....that is.....unless he's just a beast???

Even then....it's a nice rotation, but #18 is hardly the place where you should take a back-up.....when a starter like DeCastro...especially on our team.....was still on the board!

I do hate that Pittsburgh got him too!

Oh well....gotta hope it all works out somehow!

    So well said!

It's not as bad as trading up to get guys who would still be there but it's still bad in that way. The point isn't how well these guys turn out to be.. Any fuckwit can pick a guy slated to go in the first. I'm not cheering

A Pro Bowl interior lineman for the next 10 years is worth first round pick.

It's like a reach for a fighter. The player with the longer reach is first with the jab.

If offensive lineman has longer arms, they win the battle of first punch and can control the d-lineman.

Ingram is a great athlete, but DeCastro is a great interior lineman.
